Part 4 of YOTK is getting its final changes today. I just need to write the back cover copy after that and lay it all out and it will be available on Amazon hopefully some time next week.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: writing a novel is HARD. Especially one about the future.

YOTK features automobiles that can be self-driven and autopiloted. When there is an accident or dangerous traffic conditions, the system kicks in and it takes over the driving from the driver. It is all handled superbly by the National Transportation Administration's computer system.

On September 11, 2026—the twenty-fifth anniversary of the infamous 9/11 terrorist strikes on America—the country’s enemies attacked the homeland once again. Islamic extremists along with Somalian guerillas and other rivals—all secretly funded by North Korea—detonated nuclear devices in New York City, Washington D.C., Chicago, Boston and Los Angeles (which caused the “Great Quake” that sent most of that once-glorious state crumbling, radiated, into the Pacific Ocean). They also bombed Paris, Madrid, London, Toronto, and Milan. They continued their onslaught after that—in cities, in subways, in airports, in malls—pipe-bombing, dirty-bombing and chemical bombing almost daily until the American government had finally had enough.

After nearly two years of a relentless turf war against invisible enemies, the United States declared martial law across the entire nation and initiated the Great Purge. All middle-Easters, visas, and questionable beliefers were cast out of the country against their will … guilty or not. Then, while under the new police state, the Reagan Shield System (years secretly in the making) was completed and America—along with its allies—did the unthinkable: they annihilated their enemies.

The country, already in the midst of a depression, sank even deeper.

2nd Draft of YOTK: Part 4

I've finally completed the second draft of YOTK: Part 4! Ugh. Writing a novel takes forever. Especially one about a future America not told from the first person point of view. Not only am I trying to tell a compelling tale, but I'm trying to forecast the future and fill out the thoughts and motivations of multiple characters so that readers will see that it's still all about people.

Anyway, I may add one scene to build a little more interaction between Liam and Major Lauren. I still need to do interior art and summarize the previous three parts in the PREVIOUSLY IN YEAR OF THE KING introduction.

Slowly, but surely, I will finish this book. Two more parts to go after this and at least two more sequels.

YEAR OF THE KING is filled with all types of #robots--like peacebots, firebots, medbots, and fetchbots. Most civilians in the book own their own servicebots. The newest model--the Footman 3000--was featured in an in-book ad and is touted as the next best thing from the American Humanoid Corporation.

This animated short about our future is both beautiful and grim. It shows how the world's jobs are being taken over by robots/automated work machines and what affect it will have on our society. Basically, high unemployment rates ... which will eventually lead to an economic depression at the rate it is going.

Future America in YEAR OF THE KING avoids the problem of unemployment because of America's Birth Laws which control population. Only one child per Status Level 2 couple. The requirements of a Status Level 2 couple are that both parents must be married and over the age of 25 at the time of conception in order to keep their baby. They are allowed to have only one child. Any thereafter (or in the case of twins/triplets/etc.) will be claimed by the government via the Government Adoption Program (aka, the G.A.P) where they will be raised and trained as a future agent to serve the country.
